SO WHO AM I ANYWAY?

I am Yolanda, a 23-year-old girl with plenty of opinions about stuff. I’ve been an avid anime enthusiast for over a decade now, and a sporadic comic book collector for about the same time also.

My other passions include music, theatre, popular culture, literature, and of course, film! I’m also a foodie in a big way (seriously, I love food) and a hard-core travel fiend. Hopefully you’ll be able to see how those interests influence this little space.

I like to think of myself as a young Indiana Jones in the making (just hear me out on this one).  Granted, he is clumsy as well as messy, and we share his aversion to snakes. He is however a geeky polyglot, who has integrity, conviction, and a mean sense of humour. Above all else, he embraces adventure. What’s not to love there?

Why then have I made this website, and what is it all about? Well, during the course of my studies I was able to take a module where I could write about film from an academic standpoint. I used what critical theory I had learned, and ended up enjoying it more than I had ever anticipated. In fact, I loved it so much so that when I graduated, I realised that I wanted to carry on what I had begun there. So here it is, my odd little creation!
